As the Copps grocery store at 1312 S. Park St. is being converted into a Pick’n Save store, Roundy’s also announced it would close the Copps store at 620 S. Whitney Way by mid-May.

The store employs 76 workers, but most have accepted positions at other Pick’n Saves around the area, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The closing of the Whitney Way store marks the final chapter for the Copps name in this area, although Roundy’s still has other Copps stores in seven towns around the state. It also owns a Metro Market on Cottage Grove Road.

Milwaukee-based Roundy’s purchased 22 Copps stores from Stevens Point-based Copps Corp. in 2001, and Kroger purchased Roundy’s in 2016.
