The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced that a deal was finalized for the purchase of 100 acres at Devil’s Lake State Park by the Conservation Fund.

The land was previously privately owned, and one of the largest parcels of privately owned land in the park.

The Conservation Fund, which purchases at-risk land with high conservation value, was able to buy the land thanks to the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. The DNR’s purchase will allow it to be used by the public.

“Devil’s Lake State Park is a gem that is unmatched, drawing nearly 2.3 million visitors in 2025,” DNR Secretary Karen Hyun said in a statement. “This expansion, made possible by the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, means that visitors can access even more breathtaking views.”
