The Greater Madison community has rallied behind the families affected by the Dec. 16 shooting at Abundant Life Christian School, raising funds to support their recovery efforts.
United Way of Dane County announced 1,440 donors have so far contributed $240,740, and 100% of funds raised will be directed toward the greatest needs in the aftermath of this tragedy. Those priorities, as outlined by ALCS Principal Doug Butler, are:
-
First, to come alongside any financial needs of the families who lost loved ones.
-
Then, to support the medical expenses of those injured.

Finally, to use the remaining funds to provide for the mental health needs of the ALCS school community.
Additionally, at least 79 area Culver’s restaurants donated portions of their sales Monday toward those impacted by the tragedy, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
Those interested in donating can still do so through United Way.
