Madison’s finance committee unanimously approved Beitler Real Estate Services’ plans for Judge Doyle Square, a $170 million project that would include 354 apartments, a 252-room hotel, retail, office space, and parking in downtown Madison. The public’s portion, $43 million, includes $24 million in tax incremental financing.
The development will encompass two downtown blocks that currently house the Madison Municipal Building and the Government East parking garage.
Construction on the underground parking garage must start by May 2, 2017, according to the agreement. It now needs full Common Council approval to move forward, which could come at its July 5 meeting.
