Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is proposing a resolution to have Madison buy a vacant day care center at 4111 East Towne Blvd. to use as a men’s emergency homeless shelter, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

The two-story, 22,584-square-foot facility is adjacent to another parcel with a smaller building that is also being considered. The site could be used to create a large, permanent purpose-built shelter, a day resource center, “pay-to-stay beds,” and/or low-cost housing.
