The city of Madison is hosting a kick-off meeting for its passenger rail station study on Dec. 7. The purpose of the study is to identify a recommended location for a potential future Amtrak station in Madison. The passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill has made historic levels of funding available for new intercity passenger rail service. Amtrak has identified Madison as a connection on a future Hiawatha Service extension.

The meeting will include a presentation explaining the project and provide opportunities for input and questions from attendees. Elected officials, city staff, Amtrak staff, and the project consultant team will be in attendance. The meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. in room 215 of the Madison Municipal Building at 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and via Zoom. Advance registration is requested.
