The city of Madison is testing an electric cargo bike from Madison-based Saris. The electric-assist cargo bike was developed for government work and can carry up to 660 pounds, not including the rider, according to a Wisconsin State Journal story.

The bike, which features no tailpipe emissions, is being used on a trial basis with the city’s greenway vegetation clean up. Saris hopes the bike could complement the traditional fleet of government vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.
