The city of Madison Finance Committee has approved spending $5.77 million on five low-income housing projects to create 320 apartments, including 240 units reserved for low-income housing, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
Several City Council members, along with Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, have introduced a resolution to use the Affordable Housing Fund from the city and enable developers to secure federal Low Income Housing tax credits to support the projects.
Projects included are Gorman & Co.’s AgeBetter Community Living at 6145 Mineral Point Road, JT Klein Co.’s Westgate Commons at 160 Westgate Mall, Madison Development’s Madisonian Apartments at 1825 and 1837 Aberg Ave., Northpointe Development’s Uno-Madison at 7601 Mineral Point Road, and the Salvation Army of Dane County’s The Shield in the 600 block of East Washington Ave.
