It’s been 10 years in the making, but finally the city of Madison and Ruedebusch Development and Construction have reached a tentative agreement to move forward with the private phase of the Royster Corners redevelopment on 33 acres at Cottage Grove and Dempsey roads.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the $18 million private phase will receive $820,000 in TIF support. Space for a new Pinney Library branch within the new development will also be purchased for $3.1 million.

The private phase will add 86 apartments, 16,000 square feet of commercial space, and 237 parking spaces, including 96 that are underground.

The library, which will cost a total of $11.7 million, should be complete late in 2018. More phases will follow.
