The city of Monona has struck an agreement with Saint Norbert Abbey to buy the San Damiano Friary, a 10-acre historic property on Lake Monona, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.
The purchase agreement was approved this week by the Monona City Council but will need the approval of the Vatican in Rome. The city and the abbey agreed to put together a “community coalition” earlier this year to buy and preserve the property.
