The city of Madison Traffic Engineering Division put out a call for prospective crossing guards last Friday in anticipation of the coming school year due to a higher than usual number of openings, NBC15 reports.

According to the city, crossing guards typically work 10–15 hours per week with wages starting at $18.91 per hour. Shifts run Monday–Friday, and employees have off for winter, spring, and summer breaks. Paid sick leave and a free annual Metro bus pass are among additional benefits of the job.

Those interested can apply online. Interviews are set to begin in mid-August to be followed by a one-week training session later in the month. Experience is not required, and uniforms will be provided.
