A well-known Madison businessman and his wife were killed in a crash on a Texas highway this week. Alfonso and Janet Studesville were traveling through Texas on their motorcycle when a tractor-trailer reportedly strayed over the centerline and hit them head-on.

Alfonso Studesville was a founding member of 100 Black Men of Madison and a local civil rights leader. He taught at Madison East High School, spent 18 years at Wisconsin Power & Light (now Alliant Energy), and most recently worked for Madison Area Technical College. He and his wife also owned Just Nails in Fitchburg.
