The transformation of Madison’s Fire Station 6 into a child care facility is under consideration through a proposed agreement between the city and Madison College, according to NBC15. The fire station would become part of the college’s Goodman South Campus if approved and would be replaced with a new building to educate and treat Madison youth.

The Goodman South Campus Early Learning Center would be open to children between six weeks and five years old. Madison College would only pay $1 for the land but would need to operate the new facility for 10 years. Construction would begin in early 2024 and finish during the 2025–26 school year.

The new space for the fire station would be across the street on Badger Road. The Madison Common Council will look at a draft of the agreement on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
