Madison’s Central Business Improvement District has announced a plan to remove the buses from State Street on weekends this summer and open up more space for pedestrians and outdoor dining, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. Madison’s Transportation Commission considers the proposal and its impact this week, but the city staff will ultimately decide. The proposal doesn’t need City Council approval. The pedestrian mall idea is one idea being considered for the area. If successful, the change may become permanent.
