Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and County Executive Joe Parisi announced the selection of a location where a permanent shelter facility for homeless men will be built, according to a release from the city. A resolution will be sent next week to the Madison Common Council seeking approval for the site at 1902 Barillon Drive on the city’s east side. Design work is expected to take most of 2022, and construction could begin in early 2023. Madison and Dane County have already budgeted $9 million toward the project, and final costs will be determined as design work proceeds.
