For the second time, the Madison City Council has rejected a proposed development on the north side of Madison, contending that the 64-acre Raemisch farm property isn’t suitable for housing, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. The council decided that the F-35 fighter jets scheduled to fly from nearby Truax Field would create too much noise for residential tenants at the proposed development, which would be located between North Sherman and Packers avenues.
The council was asked to approve a rezoning plan on the property, where a developer seeks to build 96 single-family houses, several multifamily buildings, parkland, and other developments. A “protest petition” filed earlier against the developer, Green Street Real Estate Ventures, argued the potential residents of the property would be subjected to unhealthy levels of noise from the jets.
