The City Council also decided not to allow the City Municipal Building to be transformed into a hotel as part of the larger Judge Doyle Square project in downtown Madison. A proposal from Hammes Co./Majestic Realty Co. had envisioned the building as part of the hotel, but it will move forward with design plans regardless. It is vying for the Judge Doyle Square project along with Journeyman Group/Gialamas Co./Marcus Hotels and Resorts/LZ Ventures. The two proposals range in price from between $188 million and $250 million.
