Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and two north side alders are proposing the city spend $2.1 million to buy 21.7 acres of vacant land on the city’s north side, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The wooded acres would expand a park and preserve a forest canopy near the southeast corner of North Sherman Avenue and Wheeler Road. The nearby Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park system is already managed by the city.
