Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway has two proposals from her Housing Forward Initiative up for a City Council vote at Tuesday evening’s meeting, according to the Cap Times.

The goal of each proposal is to improve housing in the city’s Transit-Oriented Development Overlay Districts.

One proposal would allow for the development of three to four dwelling units on single lots. The transit corridor is an area of the city designed for company developments around the bus rapid transit routes.

The second proposal would allow smaller homes around a courtyard or greenspace to be constructed, also known as cottage courts.

These clusters of homes can be made up of up to eight detached homes of up to 1,000 square feet.

A recent amendment to the proposal would allow for two-unit dwellings with the cottage courts.
