The Madison City Council unanimously approved up to $4.5 million in the city budget to help fund the Madison Public Market, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. The $20 million project has been stalled since a federal funding application was pulled by the city due to a funding gap caused by increasing project costs. Amendments to the proposed capital and operational budgets for 2023 also included an increase to council pay from $14,904 to $20,604, plus premiums for council leadership, in April 2023.
