In Tuesday night’s city council meeting, a $250,000 grant was approved for the proposed Center for Black Excellence and Culture, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The grant will help pay upfront costs for the project.

The center, spearheaded by Alex Gee, pastor of Fountain of Life Covenant Church and founder/CEO of the nonprofit Nehemiah Center of Urban Leadership, and Kaleem Caire, founder of One City Schools, aims to create a transformational space that boosts Black business, culture, leadership, and health.
