The Madison Public Library’s X account (formerly Twitter) was hacked last week, and staff are still trying to regain access, Channel3000 reports.
The city of Madison said the library’s account was hacked on Jan. 28 and posts made since then “do not reflect library views or advice.”
The city requested that those who previously followed the account unfollow it and check in to refollow at a later date. As of this morning, the account linked on the city’s website no longer exists.
Dane County departments were previously instructed to stop using X in the new year after Dane County Executive Joe Parisi noted an “uptick of hate speech” on the platform.
