Democrats increased their majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court after Chris Taylor, an appeals court judge and former state legislator, won a seat on the state’s highest court in Tuesday’s Spring Election.
Taylor’s win gives the court a 5-2 liberal majority. She beat Maria Lazar, a conservative appeals court judge. The results will need to be certified in the coming weeks.
The Associated Press and Wisconsin Public Radio reported that Taylor had 60.1% of the votes at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday night.
The Dane County clerk’s website posted election results for Dane County and the Wisconsin Elections Commission links to results statewide.
