They might get an interesting glimpse of America, especially during what promises to be a hard-fought presidential campaign, but a group of Chinese investors will visit Wisconsin in September as part of a five-state tour.
Gov. Scott Walker’s office said Saturday the investors would make stops in Milwaukee and Madison on Sept. 26 and 27 as they scout for investment opportunities.
Officials of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. announced the visit. Paul Jadin, CEO/secretary of the WEDC, led a recent delegation to China and announced an agreement for the visit with PiYi Investment Management Corp. PiYi will make arrangements for high net worth Chinese citizens to tour the U.S.
The state of Wisconsin, which has failed in recent attempts to create a state-leveraged venture investment fund, is interested in attracting foreign investment, especially after being met with resistance from U.S. coastal investors.
China already is the state’s third largest trading partner, and its focus on economic development has produced a wealthy class interested in investing in American industries.
