After just two weeks, a federal jury in Madison convicted Sinovel Wind Group, a Beijing-based wind turbine manufacturer, of stealing intellectual property from the Middleton branch of Massachusetts-based AMSC (fka American Superconductor). Charges included conspiracy, trade-secret theft, and wire fraud, according to a Reutersreport.
The theft cost AMSC at least $800 million in unpaid bills and future business and forced the shutdown of the Middleton branch and staff reductions at a New Berlin, Wis. office.
Sentencing was scheduled for today.
