A Moderna COVID-19 vaccine study for children under 12 will begin enrolling participants at UW’s American Family Children’s Hospital this week, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. The clinical trial aims to move the vaccine closer to authorizing shots for the only age group not yet eligible in the U.S. The UW Health location is one of 100 sites involved in the study. Seventy-five percent of the participants will get two doses of the vaccine, four weeks apart, and the remaining participants will get placebo shots. Children as young as six months will be inoculated.
