Employers are optimistic despite economic uncertainty, according to the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce regional employer survey.
The second annual survey is used to better understand the future of work in the region.
The chamber surveyed 241 organizations throughout September, with most responses from small, locally owned businesses.
There is a cautious optimism for Greater Madison’s business climate, though businesses surveyed were concerned about the economy. Workforce and revenue performance remained the same or better compared to last year.
Some specific causes for concern included access to talent being a barrier and tariffs.
Nearly 80% of businesses are utilizing AI in some capacity, up from 49% last year. Most AI usage comes from the content creation, design, administrative support, marketing, business analytic and automation sectors.
“Accurate data is vital to inform our strategies for economic growth and resilience,” Chamber Vice President Kevin Little said in a statement. “We’re pleased with the optimism this year’s survey findings suggest and are eager to take on the challenges our respondents identified.”
