Nonprofit Centro Hispano is offering free financial education classes that aim to serve Madison’s Hispanic community, Fox47 reports. Cultura Y Finanzas will cover topics like opening a bank account, buying a car, becoming a homeowner and saving for retirement.
The new offering comes after a finding by the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center that members of the Hispanic community typically have lower financial literacy rates than adults of non-Hispanic heritage. Those with lower financial literacy rates, moreover, are 80% more likely to have difficulty managing their expenses.
