Centro to host 41st Annual Celebration at new home

Centro, a nonprofit organization that works to empower Latinx individuals in Dane County, announced its 41st Annual Celebration. The event will take place for the first time at Centro’s new home, Calli, 2403 Cypress Way, on Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. 

Centro will celebrate determination, esperanza (hope), resistance, and connectedness at this community gala. The event will recognize guests who have uplifted the agency and its mission, including:

  • Reverend Carmen Porco, CEO of Housing Ministries of Wisconsin — Ilda Conteris Thomas Award;

  • Lesli Vázquez Vargas, the Roberto Sanchez Scholarship Program — Roberto G. Sanchez Award;

  • Cayana Amaguana Cachiguango, program manager at the Tenant Resource Center — Mario Garcia Sierra Young Dreamer Award;

  • Theodore “Teddy” Chadwick, partner attorney at Fernandez Chadwick & Crouse — Marcus S. Miles Volunteer Award; and

  • Julia Arata-Fratta, mayor of Fitchburg — Centro Visionary Award.
