Cellular Dynamics International of Madison has filed for a public stock offering, making it the first Madison company to go public in six years. CDI, which makes induced pluripotent stem cell lines used in drug discovery, was founded by stem cell pioneer James Thomson in 2004 and has about 100 employees. The company recently announced it would open a second location in California. The initial public stock offering is expected to generate up to $57.25 million, and its stock will likely be listed on Nasdaq. CDI has yet to make a profit and reported a $22.3 million net loss in 2012.
