The owner of Madison’s Cat Café Mad, Cheryl Glover, is hoping to keep her dream alive by sectioning off a portion of the 2,300-square-foot space for a small 600-square-foot restaurant featuring crepes and coffee, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The café, which Glover started just over a year ago, has been losing money largely because of the costs associated with caring for the business’s 22 cats ($1,000 per month), which roam freely while customers chill, pet the animals, and sip self-serve coffee and beverages.

A successful Kickstarter campaign has already raised more than $10,000 to fund the building of a wall that will create a separate dining area.

Glover believes that the food sales will allow her to not only sustain her business at 1925 Monroe St. but also lower admission fees from $10 to $5.
