Hurricane Melissa has caused devastation to Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti, with at least 30 dead according to USA Today, and the Caribbean Association of Madison is connecting with Madison nonprofits to coordinate efforts of support for the island nations, Fox 47 reports.

CAM is going to focus on fundraising to support relief initiatives for communities facing lost homes, damaged utility poles and more. It will evaluate the best ways to collect and deliver goods, supplies and tools, and send aid once partnerships with nonprofits are secured.

Hurricane Melissa landed on Tuesday as a Category 5 hurricane, one of the strongest in history.

The storm is heading toward Bermuda.
