In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, Nov. 13–19, WRTP | BIG STEP, a workforce intermediary, has partnered with the Building Trades Council to host an Apprenticeship Career Exploration Fair and a special announcement from Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Tributary Hub, located at 2102 E. Springs Drive in Madison.
According to a press release, the Apprenticeship Career Exploration Fair introduces industry partners to high school students as well as adults who are interested in pursuing a career in the trades. Partners include labor unions in the plumbing, electrical, construction, and manufacturing trades, higher education institutions, and community organizations for all-around career success. The event will showcase apprenticeships and other routes to family-sustaining careers in the union construction building trades.
Gov. Evers, Department of Workforce Development Secretary Amy Pechacek, Department of Workforce Development Director of the Bureau of Apprenticeship David Polk, and other guests are scheduled to speak at the event at 12:30 p.m. and make an announcement regarding apprenticeship in Wisconsin.
Last year WRTP |BIG STEP welcomed more than 400 students and interested parties from the surrounding area to the event.
