The Cap Times newsroom will now feature unionized reporters after The Capital Times Co. Agreed on May 7 to voluntarily recognize their union, the outlet reported.
The new union will be called the Cap Times News Guild. A petition for an election was submitted to the National Labor Relations Board but withdrawn after Cap Times managers recognized the union.
“The Capital Times Co. has decided to voluntarily recognize the labor union being formed by Cap Times reporters and we hope to work toward an amicable outcome,” Paul Fanlund, president and publisher said Thursday in a statement. “In the meantime, we will continue the excellent reporting and opinion journalism that the community has come to depend upon.”
