As of Tuesday morning, the search for a replacement for Madison College President Jack Daniels was down to just two candidates after the third withdrew from consideration, but the school’s District Board of Trustees opted that afternoon to restart the process of finding the next Madison College president, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Daniels, who had agreed to delay his planned June 30 retirement by six months, is set to retire in January.
After the withdrawal of Carlos Cortez, one of the three finalists for the position and recent chancellor for the San Diego Community College District, board chair Donald Dantzler Jr. said the Board of Trustees “did not have the breadth of options necessary to make the best possible choice for Madison College.”
The remaining interviews and forums for the other two finalists — Tia Robinson-Cooper (recent chancellor for Ivy Tech Community College’s South Bend-Elkhart campus in Indiana) and Muddassir Siddiqi (vice chancellor of instructional innovation and digital strategy for Texas’ Houston Community College System) — have been canceled.
The board said that Dr. Tim Casper, the school’s executive vice president for student affairs, will serve as interim president starting in January.
