Bright Dental, which has operated in Milwaukee for three years and drew patients from the Madison area, has opened a clinic on Madison’s west side.
Three dentists, including Dr. Sham Chandok, own Bright Dental, which operates at 7866 Mineral Point Road.
According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, Bright Dental is one of seven local dental clinics that takes patients covered by Medicaid, the government health care program for economically disadvantaged Americans.
Just an estimated one-third of area adults on Medicaid receive regular dental care, in part because many private dentists don’t accept Medicaid patients, citing low reimbursement rates. According to Chandok, roughly 60 percent of Bright Dental’s patients are on Medicaid.
