The companies, people and issues shaping business in Madison and the Capital Region.

Citing changing consumer habits and increased competition, Brennan’s Market, the 75-year-old fruit, vegetable, wine, and cheese retailer, never fully recovered from the recession and will close all of its locations by Sept. 30, ending the jobs of 150 full- and part-time employees.

Brennan’s, which started in Monroe, has two Madison stores, as well as locations in Brookfield and Oconomowoc. It also operates a cheese warehouse and packaging facility in New Glarus.

All locations will be sold.
