Big Top Events, which operates east side Madison’s Breese Stevens Field, is requesting that the city increase the number of contractually allowed concerts at the venue in 2024, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The increase would allow 12 events, rather than the currently permitted seven.

Big Top has never offered more than seven concerts in a year and this year offered six; however, as comparable venues will not be available in Milwaukee for a period of several weeks due to the Republican National Convention, a greater number of opportunities may be created for the Madison spot.

The request would allow Big Top to make offers on as many as 12 shows but does not mean it would actually produce that number. City Parks Division staff has recommended approval of the request; community response has been mixed due to noise and parking concerns.
