Madison-based BouMatic, which manufactures milking equipment is closing its metal fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly departments, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. BouMatic notified the state Department of Workforce Development Tuesday about the closures.
BouMatic will retain its chemical, rubber goods, and logistics employees at its Madison plant located at 1919 S. Stoughton Road, but the closures of other departments will result in the permanent loss 58 union and one non-union employees as of Dec. 30.
BouMatic also indicated the company is still considering whether or not to move its remaining workforce out of state to take advantage of economic incentives available elsewhere.
