The UW Hospital board has asked hospital managers to develop a plan to work better with nurses and all other clinical and non-clinical staff so that they have a voice in issues that impact them, but did not recognize their union, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. The request was spurred by an effort to revive a nurses’ union and a request that the board voluntarily recognize that union.

Citing Act 10, the board has said it can’t acknowledge the union because the law prohibits the hospital from negotiating with unions. However, union supporters told the board it could legally recognize the union.
