Black Men Coalition Foundation (BMC) is engaging in a collaboration with eCornell, the online learning platform of Ithaca, New York-based Cornell University, that aims to break barriers for individuals in the community who are unemployed, underemployed, or formerly incarcerated, and foster social and economic advancement. The initiative will provide hundreds of learners from low-income backgrounds with free access to online professional certificate programs annually.
The goal is to provide new growth opportunities for those ready to advance through postsecondary education. Removing the financial burden and providing essential resources such as classroom space, computers, internet access, and on-site support ensures that learners can focus on their education and successfully complete their programs.
Certificate programs, typically priced at $3,900, are being offered for free due to support from Ascendium Education Group and Diane Endres Ballweg, a philanthropist and lifelong educator.
