A Black River Falls microbrewer has purchased two local breweries.
Jim Wiesender, general manager and co-owner of Sand Creek Brewing Co., bought Cross Plains Brewing Co., owned by Wayne and Larry Esser, and Furthermore Brewing Co. of Spring Green, owned by Aran Madden. The Esser family has been in the beer brewing business since 1863.
The acquired businesses will keep their names, at least initially, and operate as subsidiaries of Sand Creek Brewing Co. A tasting room in Cross Plains is also being planned, and all three owners will remain on as representatives of Sand Creek and their brands, according to reports.
