The House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation designating a Muskego U.S. Postal Service facility as the “Colonel Hans Christian Heg Post Office.”
Heg was an immigrant, military leader, and abolitionist who fought and died in the Civil War. During the Madison riots of 2020, the statue of Heg on the Wisconsin Capitol grounds was torn down by protesters.
The legislation was led by Rep. Scott Fitzgerald and cosponsored by Bryan Steil and the rest of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation. Click here to read the bill.
