Madison nonprofit BioForward Wisconsin announced the winners of the 10th annual Wisconsin Biohealth Awards, which honor scientific and business accomplishments within the state’s biohealth industry.
Dr. Cecilia Hillard, professor of pharmacology and toxicology, director of the Neuroscience Research Center, and associate dean for research at the Medical College of Wisconsin, received the Hector F. Deluca Scientific Achievement Award. Hillard is a leader in pharmacology and neuroscience and holds the G. Frederick Kasten Jr. chair in Parkinson’s disease research. Her work has earned her a place among Stanford University’s top 2% of global research scientists.
Dr. Sue Wallace, CEO of Voximetry, received the Wisconsin Biohealth Business Achievement Award. Wallace has worked in the state’s biohealth industry for over 30 years, with a focus on radiation sciences. She began her career at GE Healthcare, built a nationwide network of radiopharmaceutical production facilities at Cardinal Health, and worked with Philips’ radiation oncology division. Wallace holds a Ph.D. in radiopharmaceutical chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis and has led multiple global businesses. She now leads a spinoff venture from the UW Medical Physics department.
The 2024 Wisconsin Biohealth Awards will be highlighted at the Wisconsin Biohealth Summit on Oct. 28–29 at Madison’s Monona Terrace. The summit will focus on the future of the biohealth industry, with emphasis on innovation, sustainable practices, emerging growth companies, and the latest developments from the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub.
