Bikes for Kids Wisconsin, a nonprofit that works to increase the use of bicycle-based transportation in Wisconsin, will be shipping over 500 bikes to Zomba, Malawi on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in collaboration with two other area nonprofits.
Working Bikes from Chicago and Madison’s Wheels for Winners will join Bikes for Kids Wisconsin in a collaborative effort to assist those in Malawi with their transportation needs. The groups will load the shipping container at Bikes for Kids’ 354 Coyier Lane location in south Madison from 9 a.m. until roughly 7 p.m. Volunteers are needed.
The Malawi recipients will receive their bikes through nonprofit partner Africycle. Bikes have been sent to Ghana, El Salvador, Honduras, and Malawi in the past two years through Bikes for Kids Wisconsin and Working Bikes.
