After earlier delaying football and other fall sports to the spring of 2021, the Big 10 conference leadership has changed course and will begin the football season on Oct. 23.
According to a report from the Associated Press, the unanimous vote to restart will have the teams playing an eight-game schedule. The Big Ten’s Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted in August to delay the season because of coronavirus pandemic safety concerns. The Big Ten has been under pressure from coaches, a lawsuit from players, and pressure from player parents pushing for a fall season.
