In an address to a joint session of Congress and the nation, President Joe Biden promoted government as the solution to improve democracy in the U.S. and as a vehicle for economic growth and social well-being, according to an Associated Press report. Biden urged a partnership between parties on infrastructure spending but also suggested he was willing to press forward without bipartisan support. His bright outlook was reflected in descriptions of how the U.S. is “on the move again” after struggling through the COVID-19 pandemic, and he pitched an expansive vision to rebuild the nation’s roads, bridges, water pipes, broadband, and other infrastructure. Biden also further detailed plans to grow U.S. jobs and improve “real” racial justice.Â
