President Joe Biden will return to Wisconsin this week, stopping in Madison for a campaign event on Friday, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The news comes after an unsteady debate performance with former President Donald Trump last week.
White House officials reportedly planned for Biden to campaign and meet with Democratic governors in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Gov. Tony Evers did not participate in a call with Democratic governors on Monday, according to spokesperson Britt Cudaback, nor does he plan to join a call scheduled for today.
Biden’s visit also falls just over a week before the Republican National Convention, kicking off in Milwaukee July 15, when Trump is set to officially become the Republican presidential nominee. Trump and Biden are currently tied in Wisconsin, with each receiving support from 50% of registered voters.
