The Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County (BGCDC) will rename and redesign the organization’s Taft Street club to honor some of Madison’s southside leaders, according to NBC15. Leaders and community members gathered Thursday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside.
BGCDC received a $1.5 million endowment from the Livesey family to honor their two children who passed away recently; the building will now be called “The Erica and Anthony Fleming Boys and Girls Club.” The Livesey family has reportedly supported BGCDC for many years.
The organization will also use the gift to redesign the building in recognition of prominent southside Madison leaders. The kitchen will be dedicated to Miss Earsie Green, the club’s cook for over 35 years; the welcome center will be a tribute to Mrs. Willie Lou Harris, who worked to establish the South Madison Neighborhood Center.
