Scammers have a new way to cheat people.

An employment scam is asking job seekers to pay money to like and subscribe to videos online.

According to the Better Business Bureau, nearly 50,000 people have reported falling victim to this or similar employment scams

These employment scams have doubled from 2024 to 2025.

The BBB said people should be weary of any task-based employment and jobs offered through text messages. Unprompted job offerings are usually a sign of a scam

Median losses for those scammed are $1,000. This represents a downward trend, as the median in 2023 was double the amount.
